Trienekens commemorates fifth anniversary with HSE awards

KUCHING: To commemorate the fifth anniversary of its annual Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Day, Trienekens (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd recently rolled out a whole week of HSE-focussed activities for its staff and contractors, with the theme ‘Jom ZERO – Driving HSE Further’.

Highlighting the importance of continuously maintaining a strong safe culture at work in order to preserve a workplace free from injuries and incidents, the week-long celebration included a blood donation drive, free health screenings, health talks and road safety awareness talks and trainings for Trienekens’ staff and contractors; culminating with a special HSE Day event at the company’s Kuching and Bintulu branches.

Attended by more than 250 employees and invited guests, the event’s programme combined interactive demonstrations, games and lectures focusing on safe working habits and healthy living.

In Kuching, guest speaker from Sarawak Shell Berhad, Matthews Emban gave a presentation on road safety entitled “Bad Driving Behaviour Affects Driving Habits” while Rafidah Mohd Annuar from the Department of Environment gave an awareness talk on the proper management of hazardous waste.

Later, State Health Department representative, Tan Beng Chin presented a talk on balanced diet.

Meanwhile, attendees of the event at Trienekens’ Bintulu Branch enjoyed the same road safety awareness talk by Sarawak Shell’s Cody Chong as well as a talk on balanced diet by Hospital Nyabau Bintulu representative, John Kong Jian Tei.

Trienekens’ chief executive officer Ting Ching Zung officiated the event in Kuching and later presented special HSE awards to Trienekens’ outstanding groups and individuals for their past year HSE performances.

The “Outstanding Safe (Municipal Waste) Team Performance” were presented to Ricky Rejug and his team members Johas Rened and Chang Lui Foh, Busarah Abang and his team members Alexis Bayoi and Zawawi Sedi as well as Jeriko Durah and his team members Idrus Seruji and Daud Angi while Abdul Rahman Teh was the proud recipient of the “Outstanding Safe Driving (RoRo) Performance” award. In Bintulu, the individual award for “Outstanding HSE Performance” went to Udau Ansa.

From the Kuching Integrated Waste Management Park, Alexander bin Tomick and Blasius James Mason both received the “Outstanding Safe Performance in Non-Scheduled Waste Operations” award, while Jong Lu Onn and Girong Nganjail were presented with the “Outstanding Safe Performance in Scheduled Waste Operations” award.

The “Outstanding Safe Long-Haul Driving Performance” award went to Danny Goan, Mohd Ridzuan Abdullah and Jensonray Sepia. Kuching Integrated Waste Management Park (KIWMP) was awarded the “Lost Time Injury (LTI) Free Achievement” and the coveted “Best Overall Performance in HSE” award went to Kuching Logistics’ Scheduled Waste Operations Team.

Trienekens’ sub-contractors were also amongst the award recipients. In recognition of achieving Zero Incidents throughout 2013/2014, Petrojadi Sdn Bhd, Innatech Sdn Bhd, Transprompt Logistics, Nova Crisben Services, Hexagon Highs Transport and Shin Yang were presented with Appreciation Awards under the contractors’ category.

Trienekens organises and celebrates its HSE Day annually to recognise, reinforce, improve and strengthen HSE knowledge, understanding and skills among employees, besides providing a platform for information sharing with its customers, business partners and associates.
