Hygiene Technician 2

  • Hygiene Technician 2 (HT2) is responsible for conducting inspections and testing of the effectiveness of engineering control equipment in the workplace as required under the Occupational Safety and Health (Use and Standard disclosure of Hazardous Chemicals to Health) Regulations 2000.

    An employer must appoint, hire or employ competent persons called HT2 to carry out the inspection and testing of the effectiveness of engineering control equipment in accordance with the standards set by the Department.

    Hygiene Technician 2 (HT2) must:
    1. Conducts inspections and testing of the effectiveness of engineering control equipment in the workplace
    2. Prepares and submits a complete report of the employer's inspection and effectiveness test within 30 days of the completion of the inspection and testing
    3. Present the results of inspections and testing of the effectiveness of engineering control equipment and recommending measures for improvement to employers within 30 days of completion of inspection and testing;
    4. Submit a brief report to the Director General within 30 days of the completion of the examination and testing; and
    5. Perform other duties and responsibilities as specified in the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations (Use and Standard of Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals to Health) 2000.
  • Qualifications
    1. Possess at least a Diploma in Science, Diploma in Engineering, or Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) recognized by MQA; and
    2. Attend the course and pass the HT2 examination at a training center registered with the Director General;

    OR
    1. Possess at least a Diploma in Industrial Hygiene recognized by MQA; and pass the HT2 examination at a training center registered with the Director General;

    OR
    1. Be recognized as an Industrial Hygienist or Occupational Hygienist by an organization recognized by JKKP; AND
    2. Pass the HT2 examination at a training center registered with the Director General.
