Site Safety Supervisor Training Centre

  • Occupational safety and health at construction sites is one aspect that should be given full attention by the contractor. This is because the construction activities at the construction site can lead to dangerous incidents, accidents, injuries, and deaths not only to employees, but also the public who are around the construction site.  

    To ensure that the activities carried out at the construction site is conducted in a safe manner, the main contractor of a worksite shall appoint a part-time site safety supervisor who shall spend at least fifteen hours per week exclusively on safety supervision and on promoting the safe conduct of work generally within the site as stipulated under Regulation 25 ( 1 ) of the Factories and Machinery Act ( Building Operations and Works of Engineering Construction ) ( Safety) Regulations 1986 [ BOWEC ] .

    Under Regulation 25 ( 2 ) of Regulation BOWEC has stipulate that construction site safety supervisor shall be a person who is competent to perform the duties specified in sub-regulations (3) and (4), possess such qualifications as are approved by the Chief Inspector and has a minimum of two year's working experience as a site foreman. Chief Inspector is Director General of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health.

    Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) had decided that site safety supervisor must be a person who has successfully completed a site safety supervisor course at DOSH accredited training center, and passed the examination conducted by the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) or other institution accredited by DOSH,.
