KUCHING: Waste management company Trienekens Sarawak has just completed a week long Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) training for its staff and contractors.

Held as part of its fifth annual HSE Day, the training sessions were with zero incidents in mind, as well as to participate in community events. A Trienekens press release said staff took the initiative to organise blood donation drives and road safety awareness talks.

“We aim to keep our workplace free from injuries and incidents. We are committed to maintain a strong sense of safety for all,” said the press release.

Some 250 employees and public attended simultaneous HSE Day events held at its Kuching and Bintulu offices.

In the state capital, Sarawak Shell Bhd chipped in by presenting a talk on accident prevention, while the Environment Department gave a presentation on the proper management of hazardous waste.

Over in Bintulu, medical personnel spoke about the importance of a balanced diet.

“Trienekens organises and celebrates its HSE Day annually to recognise, reinforce, improve and strengthen staff and contractors’ knowledge, understanding and skills among employees, besides providing a platform for information sharing with its customers, business partners and associates,” added the press release.
