New Straits Times Online, 19 Jun 2014

KEMAMAN: A 26-year-old welder was killed while three others suffered light injuries following an explosion at the GPP4 SL Petronas Gas station in Kerteh plant, near here, last night.

The four were believed to be on duty and were in the process of covering gas leaks at the scene when the explosion took place at 11.15pm.

District police chief Superintendent Che Suza Che Hitam said police were alerted of the incident at 1.30am today when a worker lodged a report at the Kerteh police station.

He said the dead was identified as Muhammad Firdaus Hassan from Jalan Kenanga, Sura Jeti in Dungun.

"We have yet to get the details of the other three workers, who had been warded at the Kemaman Hospital here," he said.

Che Suza said the victim's body was sent to the forensic unit of the Kemaman Hospital for post mortem process.

"We are investigating the case and in the process of recording the witnesses's statements regarding the case to find the cause of the incident," he said.
