OBJECTIVE

i.Implementing the activities of the competent person recognition (OYK/OYB).

ii.Carry out approved personal protective equipment activities, industrial hygiene monitoring equipment, engineering controls, audiometric testing center and analytical laboratory and hazardous process to health.

iii.Identify ergonomic and industrial hygiene hazards and providing assessment and monitoring methods to be implemented by the state offices.

iv.Plan and monitor Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics activities of the state offices.

v.Manage storage, maintenance activities and calibration equipment industrial hygiene and ergonomics of the department.
 
 
 
 

RECOGNITION AND INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE APPROVAL SECTION

A. UNIT OF RECOGNITION AND MONITORING COMPETENCY
  • Processing new registration and renewal applications for OYK’s certificate.
  • Monitor performance of OYK through their work’s report, interview at DOSH’s Office or observation while .    
  • Processing new registration and renewal applications for approval of Trainer and Competent Training Centre for Confined Space Program.     
  • Collect reports of training for Safe Working in Confined Space that has been conducted.  
  • Monitor performance of Trainer and Competent Training Centre.  
  • Prepare and maintain OYK’s database in the Department’s website.      
  • Collect monitoring data of OYK and OYB that conducted by State’s office.

B. UNIT OF APPROVAL AND MONITORING HAZARD CONTROL
  • Processing applications for the approval of personal protective equipment, audiometric testing centre and sandblasting process.
  • Develop and review procedures and guidelines on the approval of personal protective equipment.
  • Manage the protective equipment of the Industrial Hygiene & Ergonomics Division for departmental use.
  • Investigate complaints on items related to personal protective equipment, monitoring equipment, silent booth, and sandblasting process.
  • Provide expert assistance and equipment on industrial hygiene research studies.
  • Monitor agencies that inspect / test personal protective equipment.
  • Plan and implement hazard control training / courses.
  • Provide technical specifications for the purchase of personal protective equipment according to current needs
  • Provide advice and guidelines related to hazard control.

INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE CONTROL & ERGONOMICS SECTION

A. UNIT OF TECHNICAL EQUIPMENT MANAGEMENT
  • Monitor and record consumables and assets in / out of the Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics Division equipment store.
  • Disposal of Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomic Division monitoring equipment.
  • Plan and coordinate the calibration and verification of Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics equipment at Headquarters and State Offices.
  • Ensure Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomic Division’s equipment works properly and is maintained.
  • Exhibition of Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomic
  • Advisory services, equipment technical assistance.
  • Provide technical specifications for the purchase of equipment.
  • Collection of equipment usage data at Headquarters and State Offices for records in databases, analysis and reports.

B. UNIT OF MONITORING & HYGIENE INDUSTRY SERVICES
  •  Processing application for registration of Training Provider and Trainers of Ergonomic Management Course and Ergonomics Trained Person.
  • Monitor performance of Ergonomics Training Provider, Ergonomics Trainers and Ergonomics Trained Person.
  • Conduct ergonomics risk assessment at the workplace.
  • Carry out ergonomics technical assistance to DOSH State Office and Government Agencies (as required).
  • Coordinated the Meeting of Heads of the Hygiene Industry Section (KaSIH).
  • Collect, prepare and maintain the Industry Hygiene Section achievement database at the DOSH State Office.
  • Plan and implement courses and training under the scope of HIE.
  • Technical support in monitoring / hazard monitoring at the DOSH State Office.
  • Monitoring / research of new HIE and hazard research.
  • Investigation / monitoring of HIE related complaints.
  • Develop and improve HIE checklist.
  • Developed Hazard Management Procedure (HazMep) for HIE.
  • Develop compliance Standards, Guidelines and Industry Code of Practice for ergonomic management.
  • Ergonomic promotion program.
  • Identify and provide specifications of ergonomic equipment for the purpose of ergonomic inspection / enforcement in the workplace.
