Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Malaysia and National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) had jointly organized a short term course (provision of short term specialized training) on occupational safety health (OSH) at workplaces. This course was part of proactive steps to ensure safety, health and welfare of workers and other people in work places are assured . The course which started on the 1st. and ended on the 23rd. June 2009 was conducted in NIOSH ,Bandar Baru Bangi was part of the Malaysia Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP).

Welcome Address by En. Zabidi Dato' Md Adib, Deputy Director General (Policy), Department of Occupational Safety and Health
The course was designed and focused on sharing of information, expertise and experience in best practices and management of OSH. It was the first project organised by department in collaboration from Economic Planning Unit (EPU,JPM) that involved ASEAN and other developing countries. DOSH would also wish to take this opportunity to record appreciation and thank you to EPU as the financier for this programme
 
The main objectives of this course are:
 
i)
to share expertise and experience with ASEAN/developing countries related to occupational safety and health matters;
 
ii)
to strengthen bilateral cooperation between Malaysia with participating countries;
 
iii)
to promote technical cooperation in OSH's field;
 
iv)
to promote Malaysia as OSH's excellence centre
 
v)
to increase national reputation and influence at international level
 
DOSH had invited representative from 11 countries. So far 10 countries have responded and confirmed their participation with an overall figure of 14 overseas participants and 4 local agencies attending this course.
