PETALING JAYA: Prasarana Malaysia Bhd has again assured that the beam on the pier of a Light Rail Transit (LRT) extension line along Federal Highway near Subang Jaya does not pose any danger to motorists.

Its group communications and strategic marketing executive vice-president Lim Jin Aun said there was nothing wrong with the beam and that the surrounding roads were now safe for use as a gantry crane on the beam that prompted the contractor to divert traffic along the busy thoroughfare last Saturday had been removed.

“We have safely brought down the gantry crane and that was the most important part of the exercise of that day.

“At this point of time, there are no updates (on any further measures taken at the construction site),” he said yesterday.

The so-called “tilting and falling” beam located near Subang Parade and Aeon Big caused a stir on social media over the weekend with users posting pictures of the site claiming that the beam looked unstable.

Vehicles heading to Shah Alam through the Glenmarie-Subang route were diverted at about 3pm after the contractor noticed an “anomaly” with the gantry crane when carrying out work involving the lifting of segmental box girders (SBG) at about 2.30pm.

Prasarana had previously issued immediate statements to explain the situation.

“The moment the gantry crane was brought down, it’s okay.

“We will let the public and press know the next time when we are ready to launch the SBG,” Lim said.

He added that the LRT track alignment work project on the Federal Highway would be completed within three months.
