New Straits Times Online, 23 December 2014 - by By PREDEEP NAMBIAR

GEORGE TOWN: A stop-work order has been issued to the property developer whose show-unit had partially collapsed and killed a construction worker yesterday.

Penang Island Municipal Council building department director Yew Tung Seang said the developer has been summoned for an explanation.

"The man was installing the timber arch support at the entrance wall and it had slanted and fell on him," he said in a statement here today.

“We have ordered the project’s consultant to brief us about the incident. As of now, it is too early to say what had caused this.

A 30-year-old Bangladeshi worker only known as Shamsul died on the spot after a one-tonne concrete wall fell on him in the unfinished show house along Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah.

Meanwhile, Penang Department of Occupational Safety and Health director Mohd Anuar Embi said an investigation into the matter is underway.
